Name: Austin Bross

School/Major: Michigan State University

Hometown: Wilmette, Illinois

Why did you start with the company?

I was looking for an opportunity where I could build skills while also given a chance to be my own boss someday. As someone with an entrepreneurial mindset, Kirkwood provided a fantastic chance to just that in a short amount of time.

What is your favorite part about working with the company?

The culture. Since the company is still relatively small, we all get to know each other very well. The sense of community and togetherness at Kirkwood is something that sets the company apart.

If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go?

I would love to travel to Peru to see Machu Picchu and absorb myself in the rich culture.

Who is one of your role models?

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. I respect that he came from literally nothing to become the highest paid actor in the world, among many other accomplishments. He has inspired me to always be the hardest worker in the room.

What are some of your favorite hobbies? How did you get into these hobbies?

I enjoy reading and working out. I began both of them to begin my journey of self improvement.

Do you play any sports?

Frisbee and Basketball.

How do you relax after a stressful work week?

Sleeping in, cooking, and going out with friends.

What is your advice for new leaders on the team?

Never stop improving. There are always new levels to be reached.

What is your favorite book and why?

Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Guy Kawasaki. I think it gives some great examples of how to be in charge of your financial destiny by paying yourself first, among other vitals.

What is your favorite quote?

“Most people are afraid of suffering. But suffering is a kind of mud to help the lotus flower of happiness grow. There can be no lotus flower without the mud.”

Who is your favorite sports team and why?

Chicago White Sox. I love the atmosphere of the games during the summer.

Do you have a favorite color and why?

Blue is my favorite color. It’s always represented a calm and relaxed state of mind.

If you could be any famous person in the world who would you be and why?

Ryan Gosling- because he’s really, really, ridiculously good looking.
